Comments:
The following inspection took place between the hours of 8 am through 1 pm. Today, I met with the Staff of Kiddie Academy located in the town of Leesburg, Virginia. At the start of this unannounced monitoring inspection there were a total of 77 children with 15 classroom staff; good ratios in all 9 rooms. A total of 10 children?s files and 10 staff files were reviewed. The children were engaged in the following: breakfast, diapering, infant sleeping, tummy time, hand washing, center activities within their room, story time, song, music, games, book fair, computer time, and other organized activities. If you should have any future questions, please call or send an e-mail. Thank you. Charlie Perkins, Licensing Inspector (703) 309-3963

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observation, two pieces of equipment inside the center were maintained in an unsafe manner. Evidence - 1. On the date of inspection (04/12/2019), the blind cords for the two windows located within the "Monkey's" room were not tied up. 2. At the time of inspection (approximately 9 am) there were 10 (2 1/2 to 3 years old) children within this room. 3. The blind cords hung down to a length just above the window sill; making them accessible to the children in care.

Plan of Correction: Corrected on the date of inspection. Once pointed out, a staff member tied the cords up on their designated hooks.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-570-E
Description: Based on review, 7 of 15 refrigerated, prepared infant formula bottles were not labeled correctly. Evidence - 1. On the date of inspection (04/12/2019), within the Infant 1 room, bottles were observed labeled with the child's name, but without today's date. 2. This observation occurred at approximately 8:30 am.

Plan of Correction: The parents of all applicable children shall be reminded in the correct way to label an infant's bottle. Staff shall serve as back up and monitor each bottle coming into the room to ensure future compliance.
