An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on April 29, 2019 from 10:50am until 12:30pm. Upon arrival to the facility, there were 16 children present with 4 staff members. The children were observed participating in age appropriate activities, hand washing, eating lunch and napping. A sample of 5 children's records and 5 staff records were reviewed. The licensing inspector toured the facility and reviewed supervision, emergency supplies, practice drills, nutrition, physical plant, required postings, and administration. A violation was cited in the area of physical plant. An exit meeting was conducted with the facility director prior to the end of the inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based upon observation and interview the provider did not ensure that hazardous substances and cleaning materials were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: 1. During the inspectors tour of the facility it was found that a mop bucket containing cleaning solution was kept in a area accessible to children. a. The cleaning solution could be a potential hazard to children. b. There were children in the preschool room during the time the violation was observed. c. The staff #5 toured the facility with the inspector and also identified and confirmed the violation. Plan of Correction: The mop bucket will be moved to an area not accessible to children.
