Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:15am-3:00pm. There were 183 children (infants-5yrs.) directly supervised by 40 staff. The physical plant, 10 staff records, 10 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in group play, listening to stories, playing outside, singing, participating in circle time and centers, rehearsing for their end of the year graduation ceremony, coloring, practicing letters, numbers and sight words, napping, being bottle fed, and eating lunch. Today's lunch consisted of baked Penne pasta, tomato sauce, ricotta and mozzarella cheeses, carrots, milk and bananas. Diapering and hand-washing procedures were also observed. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the Violation Notice. If you have any questions regarding this inspection, please contact the Licensing Inspector, Maria Soto at maria.soto@dss.virginia.gov or (571) 835-5058.

Description: Based on observation, areas and equipment of the center were not maintained in a safe and operable condition. Evidence: 1. In the Daffodils classroom, an area of peeling paint was observed next to the classroom's entrance door under the classroom's window. 2. In the Bluebonnets' classroom an area of peeling paint was observed next to the children's sink at the bottom of the wall. 3. On the preschool playground, the protective rubber material covering the edges of the steps of the playground structure is peeling off and detaching from the metal edges of the equipment.

Plan of Correction: We will repair the walls within the next ten days, and we will look for a permanent solution for the playground equipment and we'll have it in effect within 30 days.
