An unannounced Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection was conducted on May 15, 2019 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date (see separate report for details). Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in the licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. There were 31 children present ranging in age from 10 weeks to five years old. All staff have documentation of the mandatory VA Pre-service Training and are currently certified in first aid and CPR. There are children with diagnosed food allergies who need a written Allergy Action Plan completed by the child's physician. Reminder: evacuation drills are required monthly, shelter in place drills are required twice a year, and a lockdown drill is required once a year. Lockdown drills are to isolate children and staff from a security threat; shelter in place is to protect children from a natural or manmade threat.

Standard #: 22VAC40-665-520-B-11 Description: Based on review of the allergy list, the facility failed to have a written allergy care plan for each child with a diagnosed food allergy to include instructions from the physician regarding the food to which the child is allergic and steps to be taken in the event of a suspected or confirmed allergic reaction. Evidence: there was no written allergy care plan for Child 4, Child 5, or Child 6. Plan of Correction: Not available online. Contact Inspector for more information.
