Technical Assistance:
Discussion today included record keeping, physical environment, and diapering. Recommend enlarging the shelter-on-place location on the posted emergency procedures.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:30 am - 2:00 pm. There were 40 children present with 10 staff. I observed children outdoors where they were playing and observing their vegetable garden; answering questions during circle time; preparation for lunch and preparation for a nap to soothing music. Record keeping was very organized. All rooms are spacious and attractive to children, demonstrating careful planning in placing age/stage appropriate items in accessible places. If you have any questions, pleas contact me at brenda.kuhlman@dss.virgina.gov

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observation during today's inspection, some areas were found not to be maintained in a safe condition. Evidence: There was an accessible cord at child height from the refrigerator in one room; loose curtain cords in one room. Outdoors, a space the size of a finger was accessible the with some splintering in one of the planting boxes outdoors.

Plan of Correction: All items were corrected during the inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-E
Description: Based on the review of children's medications, two over the counter medications did not meet the labeling requirements. Evidence: The nonprescription allergy medications had the child's name but not the dosage.

Plan of Correction: Medications will always be labelled.
