The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced renewal inspection on 05/28/2019 from 8:49am to 1:45pm. The children were observed playing in centers, participating in circle time, playing on the playground, and preparing for nap. A formal observation was completed with the two year old and three year old classrooms. The lunch menu was posted. Interviews were held with staff throughout the inspection, and the inspector interacted with children in each classroom when appropriate. All classrooms and playgrounds were inspected today.
Six children?s records and five employee records were reviewed during this inspection. Medication is being administered and was reviewed. Ten injury reports were reviewed as well as the center?s injury prevention plan which was updated 5/15/2019.
The center's first aid kit and emergency supplies were inspected.

The violations from the previous inspections were checked for corrections. There were no repeat violations found during today?s inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure that areas and equipment of the center were maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition. Evidence: 1. The twos, preschool, and pre-kindergarten classrooms had areas with chipped and peeling paint. 2. The two year old classroom contained a torn chair with exposed foam. 3. The inspector observed sharp and splintering wood in the mud kitchen as well as exposed sharp metal at the bottom of the fence leading into the garden on the toddler playground. The inspector did not observe any toddlers playing near those areas. Plan of Correction: We will contact engineering and have them fix it today.
