An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on June 12, 2019 from approximately 10:20am-1:00pm. Upon arrival to the facility, there were 52 children present with 10 staff members. Additional staff were on site for administrative and support purposes. The children were observed in circle time receiving books and listening to a story, playing outdoors having snack and watching children's programming about Father's Day. Five staff records and five children's record was reviewed. Areas of noncompliance are identified on the Violation Notice. Exit interview conducted with the Assistant Director.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-F Description: Based on observation and inspection of the facility, the licensee did not ensure that when the center chooses to provide meals or snacks, the center must follow the most recent, age-appropriate nutritional requirements of a recognized authority such as the Child and Adult Care Food Program of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Evidence: The staff confirmed and served children in the classroom goldfish crackers and water for morning snack which did not follow the requirements of at least two USDA approved components. Plan of Correction: Normally parents provide AM snack but if we provide the snack to the children we will make sure that it is according to our USDA requirements.
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-C-2 Description: Based on record review, in one of five staff records reviewed, the licensee did not deny continued employment to a staff member when the center did not have a central registry finding within 30 days of employment. Evidence: As confirmed by the Director, there was not a central registry finding for Staff #1 (date of hire 10/8/18). Plan of Correction: A new Central Registry form has been submitted and we are waiting on the results. The Executive Director is going to inquire about the previous registry to see if it shows up in the record.
