The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced renewal inspection, at which play groups, art time, activities, story time, group time, personal hygiene and outdoor play were observed. Children were observed; and staff and children files and other documentation were reviewed. Nineteen (19) children, aged 16 months-9 years, were found to be in care with 4 staff. Please contact me if you need further assistance. Thank you for your cooperation. This inspection began at 9am and concluded at 10:50am.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-350-C Description: Based on review of the classrooms the facility failed to maintain compliance with this standard as required relating to ratio. Evidence: In the combined classroom of 3 year olds-9 year olds there were 12 children present with 1 staff. The applicable ratio required for this mixed age grouping is 1 staff to 10 children. This was corrected at 10:30 when it was brought to the attention of the director. Plan of Correction: Staff will be reminded to inform the director once their class hits maximum ratio for the ages in care, so that a plan can be made if more children arrive for care within the classrooms. The director will also continue to monitor ratios throughout the day.
A compliance history is in no way a rating for a facility.
The online compliance history includes only information after July 1, 2003. In addition, the online compliance history includes information regarding adverse actions that may be the subject of a pending appeal. An adverse action is not final until a provider has exhausted or waived all due process rights. For compliance history prior to July 1, 2003, or information regarding the status of pending adverse actions, please contact the Licensing Inspector listed in the facility's information. The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is not responsible for any errors in or omissions from the compliance history information.
