Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance was provided regarding the use of the hallway bathroom for school age children. Standard 22VAC40185 320E states at least one standard size toilet and one sink per 30 school age children. Room measurements were also taken.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 9:30am-12:00pm. There were 52 children (infants-school aged.) supervised by 10 direct care staff. The physical plant, programming, staff records, medications, injury reports, emergency plan and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in group play, reading books, getting ready to go to the pool and dancing. Diapering and hand-washing procedures were also observed. There was an abundance of books, toys, and materials, which were found to be developmentally appropriate for the children in care at the time of inspection. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Thank you for your cooperation during this inspection. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-40-E
Description: Based on observation, the center is not in compliance with terms of the current license issued by the department. Evidence: The center is operating in two upstairs apartments without having approval from zoning.

Plan of Correction: I am in the process of working with Loudoun County to obtain a Special Exception (SPEX).

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation, hazardous substances were not kept in a locked place, making them accessible to children. Evidence: Cleaning supplies (keep out of reach of children) were located on a top shelf in an unlocked closet in the Bears room.

Plan of Correction: Corrected during inspection, and will make sure the it stays locked.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-290-3
Description: Based on observation, not all electrical outlets are covered with a protective cover. Evidence: Outlets were accessible to children in the Bears and Dolphins room.

Plan of Correction: Corrected during inspection, staff will check in the morning to ensure compliance.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-320-B
Description: Based on observation, 1 out of 6 rooms, does not have toilet paper. Evidence: The back bathroom in the upstairs apartment did not have toilet paper accessible to the children.

Plan of Correction: Corrected during inspection, staff will replace supplies as needed.
