An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted during the summer camp portion of the program on August 13, 2019. There were three staff present with 36 school age children and one volunteer. Children were observed playing an organized group activity in the gymnasium, doing various table top activities in the cafeteria and preparing to make icecream created with rock salt. Five children's records were reviewed on this date. Five medications were reviewed on this date. Required documentation was reviewed for the staff and volunteer present. Licensing Inspector reviewed supervision, activities, equipment, nutrition, injury report documentation, medication procedures, children's records, emergency evacuation and shelter-in-place drill documentation, fire and health inspection reports, indoor areas, emergency supplies and required postings. Violations were reviewed with and verified by the Site Supervisor.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-A Description: Based on review, in one of five medications reviewed, the licensee did not ensure that prescription medication shall be given to a child only with parental authorization. Evidence: The Site Supervisor confirmed that Medication #1 had been administered to Child #1 on June 26, 2019 and July 31, 2019 without written parental authorization. Plan of Correction: Site Supervisor will have the parent to correct this immediately upon the parent's arrival today.
