An unannounced inspection was conducted today between 9:30 am and 12:45pm. There were 31 children present with 6 staff members. The physical plant including the playground, children's records, staff records, emergency supplies, emergency plans, snack menu's, attendance logs and medications were inspected. The children were observed playing in small groups, working on art projects, eating snack and playing on the playground. Areas of non compliance were cited on the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A Description: Based on a review of staff records, the center failed to ensure that each staff record contained documentation of 2 or more references. Evidence: Staff #1's record contains only one references and staff #5's record contained only one reference. Plan of Correction: I will have Executive Director contact additional references for Staff #1 and Staff #5 and place in their files.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation the center failed to ensure that areas of the center inside will be maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition. Evidence: 1) Three ceiling tiles in the hallway are stained and appear to have water damage. 2) Paint is peeling off the wall in the main hallway Plan of Correction: We will replace the ceiling tiles and patch the wall.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-G Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that when food is brought from home, the food container shall be sealed and clearly dated and labeled in a way that identifies the owner. Evidence: There were two lunch boxes that were not labeled with the name and date. Plan of Correction: We will remind parents to label lunch boxes.
