22VAC40-185 STAFFING AND SUPERVISION.

Thank you for your assistance during this announced monitoring inspection. This on-site visit was conducted on September 5, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. through 2:30 p.m. This inspection was initiated from a self-reported incident received by the Valley Licensing Office on August 8, 2019. Interviews were conducted with two staff and documentation reviewed. One children's and one staff record were also reviewed. Areas of non-compliance may be found on the violation notice.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-340-A Description: Based on documentation and staff interviews, the center failed to ensure the care, protection and guidance of one child. We are now using bottle warmers.
Evidence:
1. Staff #1 stated she was holding Infant #1 while making a bottle.
2. Staff #1 stated (while holding Infant #1) walked over to the microwave to remove a cup of water to place the bottle in for warming.
3. Staff #1 stated she removed the cup of water from the microwave. Infant #1 reached for the cup and it spilled on her foot.Plan of Correction: We have put into action that no staff will make bottles with a child while holding.
