The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection on Monday, September 23, 2019 to determine the center's compliance with licensing standards. The inspection was initiated at approximately 9:40am and concluded at 12:45pm. The center's director was present and assisted the inspector throughout the inspection. The census for today's inspection consisted of 129 children in the care of 22 staff members. Upon the inspector's arrival, the children were engaged in a variety of activities. The children were observed during free play playing with puzzles, blocks, drawing, coloring, and during classroom transitions. Some of the children were observed during teacher-led small group activities. The children were also observed during large group activities in the Art classroom and Creative Movement classroom. Staff were observed having positive interactions with the children. The classrooms are decorated with the children's artwork and are equipped with age and stage appropriate materials. The required postings and required practice drills were observed and found to be in compliance. The first aid kit and non-emergency supplies were inspected. Transportation is provided and two buses were inspected today. Ten children's records, ten staff records, and three medications and authorizations were reviewed today. The center has CPR, First Aid, Daily Health Observation, and MAT trained staff on site. The menu was posted and today's lunch consisted of chicken tenders, pasta salad, mixed fruit, and milk.

Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-2 Description: Based on a review of ten staff records and interview on 09/23/2019, the center did not ensure the results of a fingerprint based background check were completed for one staff, hired prior to January 22, 2018, by September 30, 2018.
Evidence: 1) The record for Staff #8, hired on 08/14/2017, contained the results of a fingerprint based background check dated 11/01/2018. 2) During interview, the director reported the fingerprint based background check results for Staff #8 were dated 11/01/2018, exceeding the September 30, 2018 deadline for staff hired prior to January 22, 2018.Plan of Correction: Corrected. All other staff hired prior to January 22, 2018 have completed their fingerprint based background checks.
