The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection on Friday, September 20, 2019 between 12:00 pm to 2:02 pm to determine the center's compliance with licensing standards. During this inspection, the children in care were observed by the licensing inspector in three classroom settings. The census for today's inspection consisted of eighteen children with seven staff present including the director/owner for administrative purposes.The licensing inspector completed observations of the children in care transitioning into napping, and napping. The center's bathrooms, diapering station, designated classrooms, indoor areas were inspected by the licensing inspector. The required posting were reviewed and inspected. The center's first aid kit and emergency supplies were inspected. The center does not currently administrator medication or provide transportation. There were violations cited during this inspection. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-350-E-1 Description: Based on observation and interview with staff, the center did not ensure to following ratios are required for birth to the age of 16 months.
Evidence: During the inspection on September 9, 2019, there was one staff observed in the infant room with five infants in care. Interview with staff confirmed being the sole caregiver of the five infant observed during napping period.Plan of Correction: The center will ensure staff to children ratios are applied appropriately during nap time.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-370-1 Description: Based on observation at naptime and interview with staff, the center did not ensure when an infant is placed in a crib, they are placed on the back.
Evidence: During the inspection, Child#1 (2 mos) was observed in crib placed on her stomach while sleeping. Interview with staff confirmed the child was placed on stomach while in the crib.Plan of Correction: The center will ensure to place infants on their back to sleep.
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-3 Description: Based on review of staff records and interview with children, the center did not ensure to obtain results of an out of state central registry search.
Evidence: In Staff#3's record (date of hire: 9/03/19) the results of an out of state search was not found. Interview with staff confirmed that an out of state search had not be requested at this time.Plan of Correction: The center will submit request for out of state central registry.
