An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted between 12:00pm and 3:00pm. Upon arrival there were 29 children in care with 5 staff present. A sample of 3 children and 2 staff records were reviewed. The owner reported there were no medications at the time of inspection and no children with diagnosed food allergies. Children were observed sleep on mats during nap.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A Description: Based on a record review the center did not ensure all required information was kept for each enrolled child.
Child #3 did not have 1 of the 2 required emergency contact information.
Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the owner during the exit interview: The owner will obtain this information from the child's parent today at pick-up and will record it in the file.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation the center did not ensure all hazardous substances were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
The kitchen/laundry area is in the same room as the middle room of the daycare. There was a bottle of laundry detergent on the washing machine accessible to children.
Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the Owner during the exit interview:
The kitchen/laundry area is usually gated off. The laundry detergent was placed in a locked area during the inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-G Description: Based on observation the center did not ensure when using substitute containers they were clearly labeled to indicate their contents.
There was a spray bottle that was tinted pink, sitting on a shelf in the front daycare room, containing a liquid. The bottle was not labeled.
Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the owner during the exit interview:
The bottle was labeled to identify its contents during the inspection.
