63.2 Child Abuse & Neglect

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 7:00am to 8:15am with program staff. There were 10 children in care at the beginning of the inspection, ranging from six to eleven years of age, supervised by two staff. The children were observed in free play in centers- playing board games, reading in the library area, and in a group game- and during a group fitness activity of "Just Dance". Five children?s records were reviewed and were in compliance. Staff records were reviewed off site at the Ron Rosner office on 11/6/19 and today a review of required on-site documentation was conducted for staff certified in CPR, First Aid, and Daily Health Observation. The manager reported that there is currently no medication on site, but the program has two staff with current certification in Medication Administration Training (MAT). The attendance and emergency drill log were reviewed and were in compliance. The last documented evacuation drill was dated 10/28/19 and the last documented shelter-in-place drill was dated 10/21/19. The first aid kit, flashlight, and battery operated radio were observed and were in compliance. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-160-C
Description: Based on staff record review, the program did not ensure that staff obtained and submitted the results of a follow-up tuberculosis (TB) test or screening at least every two years from the date of the first initial screening or testing. Evidence: The last documented TB test or screening for Staff B was dated 7/10/17.

Plan of Correction: We will ask the staff to obtain a new TB test or screening and bring us the results.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A
Description: Based on review of staff records, the program did not have documentation that two or more references as to character and reputation as well as competency were checked before employment. Evidence: The record for Staff A, with a start date of 4/22/19 did not have documentation of references.

Plan of Correction: I will reach out to the references today and put the documentation in the record.
