Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 9:00am-11:30am. There were 58 children (infants-5yrs.) supervised by 12 direct care staff. The physical plant, 4 staff records, injury reports, programing, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in group play, doing art, building, and circle time. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Thank you for your cooperation during this inspection. Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation, hazardous substances are being kept in a locked place using a sage locking method to prevent access by children.
Evidence:
Located in the hallway, the laundry was unlocked making laundry soap and painting supplies (keep out of reach of children on label) accessible to children.

Plan of Correction: We will make sure the door is always locked. Corrected during inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-290-3
Description: Based on observation, all electrical outlets are inaccessible to children.
Evidence:
A power strip in the middle toddler classroom does not have protective covers, making the outlets accessible to children.

Plan of Correction: I will make sure all outlets and power strips have protective covers.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-380-A
Description: Based on observation a daily schedule of the classes normal activities is not posted in each classroom.
Evidence:
A daily schedule is not posted in the 2's, caterpillar or dragonfly classrooms.

Plan of Correction: I will type up an individual daily schedule for each classroom, there is a rotation schedule posted.

Description: Based on observation, the diapering surface is being used for more than just diapering or cleaning children.
Evidence:
The diapering surface in the 2's classroom is being used for storage, located on the table was a bag containing wipes, diapers and a change of clothes.

Plan of Correction: Bag was removed during the inspection.

Description: Based on observation, the most recent inspection of the facility was not posted.
Evidence:
Posted was an old inspection of the facility.

Plan of Correction: Current inspection was posted, I will make sure the current inspection is always posted.
