An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:30am - 3:00pm. There were 131 children (infants-5 yrs.) directly supervised by 41 staff. The physical plant, 10 staff records, 10 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed being bottle fed, napping, listening to stories, playing outside, participating in circle time, coloring, learning about geometric shapes, making apple sauce and cinnamon ornaments, playing organized games in the multi-purpose room, playing with blocks and legos and eating lunch. Today's lunch consisted of Pulled Chicken Sliders with BBQ, Creamy Cole Slaw, milk and fresh fruit, Diapering and hand-washing procedures were also observed. There was an adequate supply of materials for the children. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the Violation Notice.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, areas of the center were not maintained in a safe and operable condition.
Evidence:
In the restroom located between the Poppies classroom and the Daffodils classroom, protruding rusted bolts were observed on the base of one of the toilets. The plastic covers were missing exposing the bolts.Plan of Correction: We will make sure the bolts are covered as soon as possible.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, hazardous substances were not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence:
In the girls restroom on the lower level of the center, a can of sanitizing spray was observed on top of a shelf, unlocked and accessible to children. Several cleaning products were observed inside a storage closet located on the lower level of the center next to the boys restroom, the closet door was closed but unlocked.Plan of Correction: We will ensure the storage room is closed at all times, and we will lock all cleaning materials.
