Discussed emergency access from the classroom. You are advised to consult with the City's Fire Marshall regarding guidance.
Discussed drinking water for the children in care. Public water system meets the intent of the requirement.
Discussed adequate labeling of food brought from home.

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted this date. A total of 45 children with 5 staff were present during the inspection. When the Licensing Inspector arrived, the children were napping in the classrooms. Observation and ratios of the classrooms were observed. The center was decorated with holiday decorations that were completed by the children. Some staff were observed completing lesson planning during the nap time period. One violation found regarding care and protection which pertained to one specific staff. Set up for afternoon snack was observed. A review of 4 children's records and 3 staff records was conducted. All 3 staff records were the only new staff since the last inspection in April. This inspection began at approximately 1:15pm and ended at 2:45pm. Thank you for your cooperation today. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-340-A Description: Based on observation, one staff failed to ensure the care, protection and guidance of children.
Evidence:
1.Staff #1 was observed by the Licensing Inspector leaning against the wall in the PreK class asleep during nap time,
2.A total of 11 children were observed in the classroom on their cots. One child who was on a cot directly beside Staff #1 was still awake.
3.The Licensing Inspector remained in the class and counted the number of children without Staff #1's knowledge.
4.Staff #1 admitted that they were unaware that the Licensing Inspector was in the classroom.Plan of Correction: We terminated this Staff today.
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-3 Description: Based on staff record review, one background check was not obtained.
Evidence: Staff #2 was hired on 11/04/19. Based on the Sworn Statement dated 10/28/19, this staff resided outside of the state of Virginia in the past five years. An out of state background Central Registry search was not requested.Plan of Correction: We will request the search today. The search results will be forwarded to the licensing inspector within two weeks,
