Comments:
The Licensing Inspector conducted a joint investigation with a local agency in response to a complaint that was received by the licensing office on January 2, 2020. The investigation regarding the center not following proper procedures for preventing the spread of disease in the Toddler class was initiated on January 8, 2020 from 9:15 am to 12:00 pm.

Interviews were conducted with staff.

The information gathered during this investigation does support the allegations, so the complaint is determined to be valid. See the Violation Notice for findings.

Description: Based on a staff interviews, the center did not follow proper procedures for preventing the spread of disease.
Evidence:
1. On 12/31/2019, Child #1 (Toddler) had recurrent diarrhea. The parents were notified to pick the child up, however the child remained in the Toddler B classroom until the parent arrived. The child was not placed in a separate quiet area designated for ill children as required.
2. Four staff members confirmed that child #1 had recurrent diarrhea on 12/31/2019 and three staff members confirmed the child remained in the classroom until the parents arrived and was not excluded from the other children and not placed in a designated quiet area until leaving the center.

Plan of Correction: Reviewed and retrained staff on sick policy. Parents were notified immediately and picked up child within allotted time. Family confirmed there was no illness to report. We have ensured all teachers/staff are aware of the designated quiet areas for sick children.
