The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced renewal inspection from 9:45 am - 12:10 pm. There were twenty six preschool children in care: thirteen children with two staff in classroom #1 and thirteen children with two staff in classroom #2. The children were observed having morning snacks, during circle time, playing in the centers and during lunch. Five staff's records and five children's records were reviewed. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-320-B Description: Based on observation, the center failed to maintain the hot water temperature at 120 degrees or lower.
Evidence:
1. The inspector observed the bathrooms and used the thermometer to measure the temperature of the hot water at the sinks. The water temperature measured 125.1 degrees.Plan of Correction: The teacher contacted the central office during the inspection and requested a work order for maintenance. Maintenance will adjust the temperature of the hot water heater to ensure it does not exceed 120 degrees. Staff will monitor the children during hand washing until the hot water heater is turned down.
