63.2 Child Abuse & Neglect
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:00am-12:30pm. There were 62 children supervised by 7 direct care staff. The physical plant, 5 staff records, 5 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in group play, reading books, playing outside, and eating lunch. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, not all areas inside the center are maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition.
Chipped and peeling paint was observed in the 3-4 year old room, making the pieces accessible to children.
Plan of Correction: We have a work order in to get repainted.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-A Description: Based on observation, staff and children's hands were not washed with liquid soap and warm running water before food was served.
Staff was serving food without washing their hands to children sitting at the table who did not wash their hands.
Plan of Correction: All staff was instructed to wash their hands along with the children's hands before food is served.
