Comments:
A Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection (SHSI) was conducted today from 10:05am through 12:55pm to review supplemental health and safety requirements. A total of 47 children were present with 9 caregivers and all classrooms were in ratio. The children were observed engaging in water play, reading books, doing stamp crafts, completing learning activities on the computer, listening to storytime, handwashing, playing with building blocks, and coloring. Lunch served today was beans and franks, whole wheat bread, peas, applesauce, and milk. Programming, the physical plant, center buses, menus, emergency procedures, 6 medications, allergy action plans, and 7 children's records and 5 staff records were reviewed. Adequate staff on site are trained in CPR/First Aid, Medication Administration Training and Daily Health Observation.

A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. No violations of the supplemental subsidy health and safety requirements were found. Please contact me with any questions at morgan.bryson1@dss.virginia.gov.
