This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on May 13, 2020 and concluded on May 13, 2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 37 children present and 7 staff. The inspector emailed a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 3 children?s records and 3 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A Description: Based on record review the licensee did not ensure written information of receiving orientation training for required job position.
Evidence:
Staff #2 hire date 2/17/2020 did not have documentation of orientation completed.Plan of Correction: Employee must sign off on and complete all day one orientation prior to returning to work. New management has been retrained on how to properly document all required training documents on day one of employment.
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1721.1-B-3 Description: Based on review and interview, facility did not ensure there is a search of the child abuse and neglect registry or equivalent maintained by any other state when an employee has lived outside the state of Virginia within the past 5 years.
Evidence: The record for staff #2 was reviewed. According the sworn statement or affirmation completed on 1/17/2020 , the individual lived outside of the state VA in the past five years. There is not a completed child abuse and neglect registry or documentation of the equivalent for the states in which the individual resided. Staff #2 hired date was 2/17/2020.Plan of Correction: We have contacted this employee who is on COVID furlough to report to us within 5 business days to complete the missing documentation. Failure to do so, will result in termination. New management has been re-trained on how to properly conduct new hire orientation and ensure all documentation is present day one of employment.
