This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on May 5, 2020 and concluded on May 6, 2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 48 children present and 7 staff. The Inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 3 children?s records and 3 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliances with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-C-2 Description: Based on a review of records and interview on 05/06/2020, the center did not ensure to obtain central registry results by the end of the 30th day of employment for one of two staff records.
Evidence: 1. The record of Staff #2 (DOH 9/24/19) contained central registry results dated 2/7/20.
2. Administration stated Staff #2 completed orientation on 9/24/19.
3. Administration stated Staff #2 didn't begin work until 1/27/20.Plan of Correction: Staff's employment (actual) date was after CPS, 0 FP. Supporting documentation was provided, including report from ADP. Will ensure training is completed on actual start date going foward.
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-2 Description: Based on a review of records and interview on 5/6/2020, the center did not ensure that criminal history checks were obtained prior to the 1st day of employment for one of two staff records reviewed.
Evidence: 1. The record of Staff # 2 (DOH 9/24/19) contained documentation of a criminal history check dated 10/9/19. Staff #2 completed orientation on 9/24/19.
