This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 06/17/2020 and concluded on 06/17/2020. The director was contacted by video call to conduct the inspection virtually. There were no children present. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The inspector reviewed two children's records and two staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The licensing inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on a review of documentation and interview on 06/17/2020, the center did not implement a minimum of two shelter-in-place practice drills per year for the most likely to occur scenarios.
Evidence: 1) The practice drill records reviewed for 2019 revealed there was only one shelter-in-place drill implemented in 2019. The practice drill was completed and documented on 01/28/2019. 2) During interview, the center's director confirmed a second shelter-in-place practice drill was not implemented in 2019.Plan of Correction: One shelter-in-place drill has already been conducted in 2020. There will be a second shelter-in-place drill practiced when the center reopens in July.
