Technical Assistance:
Inspector reiterated that despite infants being visible through the half wall, they are considered different rooms, and that supervision ratios should be maintained at all times.

Additionally, USDA guidelines were discussed. Milk must be served for lunch, and for snacks, if juice is served, it should be 100% fruit juice to meet a required food group, per attachment IV of the child care standards.

Comments:
Thank you for your assistance during this unannounced inspection. This inspection was initiated by an on-line complaint that was received in the Valley Licensing Office on February 26, 2020 regarding staff supervision and special services allegations. The information gathered during this complaint supports the allegations and the complaint is determined to be valid.

Please complete the ?plan of correction? and ?date to be corrected? for each violation cited on the violation notice and return it to me within 5 calendar days from today. You will need to specify how the deficient practice will be or has been corrected. Just writing the word ?corrected? is not acceptable. Your plan of correction must contain: 1) steps to correct the noncompliance with the standard(s): 2) measures to prevent the noncompliance from occurring again; and 3) person(s) responsible for implementing each step and/or monitoring any preventive measure(s).

Description: Based on observation, program did not ensure that ratios were maintained.

Evidence: When two inspectors entered the infant room, there were six infants in the initial room with no staff present. Within fifteen seconds, two staff members joined the children from the attached secondary room.

Plan of Correction: Staff will be in each area when infants are in area.

Description: Based on staff interviews, program did not follow USDA guidelines for lunch.

Evidence: When two inspectors entered a classroom, lunch was being served. Upon seeing a child drinking a beverage that appeared to be tea, inspector inquired whether it was provided by a parent or program. It was from home, but when asked whether the program provided similar drinks, both teachers confirmed that a powdered fruit juice mix is used and served 2-3 days per week.

Plan of Correction: Center will provide milk for lunch.
