63.2(17) License & Registration Procedures
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A renewal inspection was initiated on 7/20/2020 and concluded on 7/24/2020. The director was contacted by telephone and email to initiate the inspection. There were 12 children present and 3 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 2 children?s records and 2 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-2 Description: Based upon review of two staff records and staff interview, the facility did not ensure that all staff submit to fingerprinting prior to hire as required by law.
1. The record provided for staff 2, hired on 6/1/2020, did not include the results of a fingerprint background check.
2. Staff 1 confirmed that a fingerprint check was not obtained for staff 2.
Plan of Correction: The facility responded with the following:
Staff 2 is a previous employee from 2018. A new fingerprint check was not obtained when she was rehired. A fingerprint check will be obtained immediately.
