Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 10/1/2020 and concluded on 10/5/2020. The director was contacted by email to initiate the inspection. There were 18 children present and 3 staff. The inspector emailed the director/provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 2 children?s records and 2 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and a violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-450-A
Description: Based upon observation, the facility has not ensured that rest mats used by children during the designated rest period have linenes consisting of a top cover and a bottom cover or a one-piece covering which is open on three edges.
Evidence:
1. Seven children were observed on rest mats in the toddler classroom. Six of the seven rest mats in use did not have linens in use as a bottom cover under the sleeping children.
2. The program director acknowledged that the rest mats did not have bottom linens in use.

Plan of Correction: The facility responded with the following:
All staff will be reminded that rest mats must have linens consisting of a top cove and a bottom cover or a large one-piece covering open on three sides upon which a child can lay and cover up.
