Provided consultation on: COVID-19 Phase III Guidance Update:
While masks are not required for children in child care, the essential guidance issued by the Department of Social Services on 9/25/2020, based on CDC recommendations, strongly recommends that children 2 years of age and older wear a face covering. This is a best practice that will decrease the risk of COVID-19 transmission when children and caregivers are in close proximity.
Programs that remain open are to adapt service settings to align with public health recommendations, which include social distancing, wearing face coverings, implementing robust policies and procedures for hand washing and cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces and materials.
Provided consultation on additional out-of-state background checks:
All existing employees who have lived in another state within the past five years must complete a state criminal history name check and sex offender registry check from the other state. Results must be received before December 31, 2020.
All employees (who have lived in another state within the past five years) hired after July 1, 2020 must have this criminal history name check and sex offender registry check prior to employment.

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was conducted on 11/13/2020 with an exit interview on 11/19/2020. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 54 children present with seven staff supervising. The Inspector reviewed four children's records, four staff records, the emergency drill log, meals and snacks, hand washing procedures, enhanced cleaning and sanitizing of toys and surfaces, and daily indoor and outdoor activities. The information gathered during the inspection determined no violations with applicable standards or law. No violations were issued.
