New out-of-state background check requirements for staff , effective July 1, 2020 reviewed.

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A renewal inspection was initiated on 12/01/2020 and concluded on 12/04/2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 23 children present and 6 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The inspector reviewed 4 staff records and 3 children's records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The licensing inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care Programs.

Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-4 Description: Based on record review and interview, the center failed to obtain a copy of the results of a criminal history record information check from any state in which the applicant has resided in the preceding five years. These background checks are required to be obtained prior to employment.
Evidence:
1. The results of a criminal record check, for staff 1, from the State of Nebraska were obtained after her hire date of 11/11/2020.
a. The results were received on 12/09/2020.
2. Administrative staff confirmed that the Nebraska criminal record check was received after her first day of employment.Plan of Correction: Criminal Record Check was emailed to me on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. Employee is eligible to work.
