This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on December 4, 2020 and concluded on December 8, 2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 45 children present with nine staff. The Inspector reviewed three children's records and three staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care Programs.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A Description: Based on a review of staff records, the center failed to ensure that all required information was in a staff record.
Evidence:
1. Staff #2 was missing one reference check from their file. Date of hire was 08/24/2020.
2. There were no reference checks completed and on file for Staff #3. Date of hire was 08/24/2020.
3. Staff verified that there was only one completed reference check in Staff #1's file and no completed reference checks in Staff #3's file.Plan of Correction: Administration will obtain the required reference checks for Staff #1 and Staff #3. In the future administration will ensure that reference checks are completed and in the staff members file before the staff's first day of employment.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on a review of evacuation drills, the center failed to complete a monthly practice evacuation drill.
Evidence:
1. There was no documentation of a monthly practice evacuation drill being completed for the months of October 202 and November 2020.
2. Staff verified that there was not a monthly practice evacuation drill completed for the months of October 2020 and November 2020.Plan of Correction: Administration will be making an alert reminder in our shared calendar for monthly drills to not forget to complete them monthly. A lockdown drill will be completed in December.
