Inspection Date: Dec. 15, 2020

Complaint Related: Yes

Areas Reviewed:
22VAC40-185 SPECIAL CARE PROVISIONS AND EMERGENCIES.

Technical Assistance:
N/A

Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A complaint inspection was initiated on December 15, 2020 and concluded on December 15, 2020. A complaint was received by the department regarding allegations in the areas of Special Care Provisions and Emergencies. The provider was contacted by telephone to conduct the investigation. The inspector emailed the provider a list of documentation required to complete the investigation.

The evidence gathered during the investigation supported the allegation of non-compliance with standards or law and violations were issued. Any violations not related to the complaint but identified during the course of the investigation can be found on the violation notice.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-490-C
Complaint related: No
Description: Based on review of documentation and interview, the facility did not notify parents within 24 hours of the center having been informed of a communicable disease within the center.

Evidence:
1. The director stated that notification was not sent to the parents of the center within 24 hours of the center having knowledge of a child being diagnosed with a communicable disease.

Plan of Correction: The management team will continue to be responsible for communicating to parents via KidReports, lobby posting, or email all communicable disease diagnoses brought to our attention within the required 24 hours of awareness. With the current pandemic, we are following stricter illness guidelines and families must provide appropriate documentation in order for children to return to care. This delay occurred as we were awaiting appropriate paperwork from the family.
