- The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.
- Please send a copy of the results of the Federal Fingerprint Based Criminal History Record Search for staff #4 if you are able to locate it. Otherwise, an appointment to have a new Federal Fingerprint Based Criminal History Record Search must be scheduled within 10 days and a copy of the confirmed appointment sent / forwarded to the inspector at that time.

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A Renewal inspection was initiated on 12/22/2020 and concluded on 12/23/2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 72 children present and 18 staff. The inspector emailed the director/provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 4 children?s records and 4 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-2 Description: Based on a review of records and interview, the licensee did not maintain documentation that each staff person submitted to fingerprinting.
Evidence:
1. Four staff records were reviewed.
2. The record for staff #4, who began employment 8/8/2012, did not contain the results of a Federal Fingerprint Criminal Record Search.
3. Staff #4's record included results of a Virginia State Police background check which was dated 6/30/17. However, a Federal Fingerprint based criminal record search should have been conducted by September 30, 2018.
4. The program director stated that she believes Staff #4 had the Federal Fingerprint based criminal record search conducted by the previous director but was unable to locate the documentation during the inspection.Plan of Correction: The program director will continue to try to locate the Federal Fingerprint based criminal record search results for staff #4 and will contact the Office of Background Checks to see if a copy can be obtained and forwarded to the inspector. If the program director is unable to obtain the Federal Fingerprint based criminal record search results for staff #4 a new search will be scheduled within 10 days and a copy of the appointment confirmation will be forwarded to the inspector at that time.
