Current Inspector: Adrianna Walden (757) 404-2487

Inspection Date:

Complaint Related: No

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-340-A
Description: Based on observation, it was determined that, while staff are supervising children, the facility did not ensure the care and protection of children.
Evidence:
Pursuant to the Governor?s Executive Order 72 and Order of Public Health Emergency 9, all children ages five and older and all staff are required to wear face coverings at child care programs while indoors and when outdoors and unable to maintain at least six feet of social distance. During the inspection on January 14th the following was observed:

1. In the school-age room, there were five children over the age of five observed not wearing any face coverings. In addition the children were not spaced at least 6 feet apart when sitting at tables during virtual learning. The program director confirmed, children are not being required to wear face coverings when sitting in front of their computers during virtual learning, regardless of spacing.
2. In the preschool room there was a group of children observed gathered on the floor without being socially distanced, while a staff member read a story to them. The staff member who was observed standing in front of the group of children, was not wearing a face covering.

Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the director during the exit interview.
The public school teachers have complained about not being able to see the children's faces during virtual learning so the center has not required them to wear them when seated at their computer. In addition there are only 2 electrical outlets in the school-age room which makes it difficult to accommodate the children's computers and socailly distance. The director will consult their safety manager and district manager to possible solutions.
