Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on 01/29/2021 and concluded on 01/29/2021. The in-charge person was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 66 children present and 14 staff. The inspector emailed the in charge person a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 4 children?s records and 4 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.


Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.


The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Violations:
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-4
Description: Based on record review, the center did not obtain a copy of the results of a criminal history record information check, a sex offender registry check, and a search of the child abuse and neglect registry from any state in which the individual has resided in the preceding five years.

Evidence:
1. Staff #4 has a hire date of 10/5/20. Staff #4 indicated on her sworn statement or affirmation that she has resided in the state of Florida within the past five years. The results of a criminal history record check and sex offender registry check were not available for staff #4 from the state of Florida .
2. Staff #2 has a hire date of 10/26/20. Staff #2 indicated on her sworn statement or affirmation that she has resided in the state of Pennsylvania within the past five years. The results of a sex offender registry check and out-of state central registry were not available for staff #2 from the state of Pennsylvania.
3. Staff #1 has a hire date of 10/13/20. Staff #1 indicated on her sworn statement or affirmation that she has resided in the state of Arizona within the past five years. The results of a criminal history record check and sex offender registry check were not available for staff #1 from the state of Arizona .
4. The center director confirmed that the required out-of-state background checks for staff #1, staff #2 and staff #4 had not been obtained.

Plan of Correction: Sex Offender results were email to inspector on 1-29-21 immeidatly following the inspection for staff # 4, 2 and 1.

Staff #2 paperwork for a registry check was emailed to inspector 1-29-2021.

Staff #1 lives in Arizona the state does not release criminal history results to private companies for employment reason emailed to inspector.
