Comments:
This Inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia. A renewal inspection was initiated on 02/24/2021 and concluded on 02/24/2021. The director was contacted by phone to initiate the inspection. There were 74 children present and 17 staff. The inspector emailed director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 4 children?s records and 6 of staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliances with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility. The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-M
Description: Based on a review of injury reports, all required components of the report were not documented.
Evidence:
The injury report reviewed did not include the time the parent was notified.
(The injury report form does not include a space to document the time the parent was notified.)

Plan of Correction: Staff will begin writing in the time the parent was notified.

Standard #: 22VAC40-665-790-C
Description: Based on a review of a lunch box, and the Head of School's statement, food containers from home are not dated.
Evidence:
The lunch box inspected was labeled with the child's name; however, it was not dated.

Plan of Correction: When staff wipe down lunch boxes at arrival and check the food inside, they will add a piece of tape to date the lunch box. We will consider applying for an Allowable Variance (AV).
