This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A subsidy health and safety inspection was initiated on 2/25/2021 and concluded on 3/1/2021. The Director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 18 children present with 5 staff. A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy regulations that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection.
The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with subsidy regulations, and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The licensing inspector has reviewed with the Provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard #: 22VAC40-665-520-B-11 Description: Based on interview, a written allergy care plan has not been obtained for each child with a diagnosed food allergy.
Evidence: The program owner has confirmed that child #4 and child #5 have diagnosed food allergies. Allergy care plans have not been obtained for either child.Plan of Correction: I'll print off the form from the state website and make sure they get completed.
Standard #: 22VAC40-665-540-A Description: Based on record review, staff have not provided documentation of a tuberculosis (TB) screening that had been completed within 30 calendar days prior to the first date of employment.
Evidence: Staff #1 (date of hire: 9/7/2020) TB screening is dated 2/17/2020.Plan of Correction: I'll make sure that [they] make an appointment with [their] doctor's office to get an updated screening.
Standard #: 22VAC40-665-780-A-3 Description: Based on record review and interview, lockdown procedures were not practiced at least annually.
Evidence: When reviewing 2020 annual drills, the program owner confirmed that lockdown drills had not been practiced.Plan of Correction: I'll make a separate log to document lockdown drills and will make sure they get practiced.
