- Technical Assistance:
Efforts to keep children socially distanced at six feet during snack/lunch service were discussed.
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring/renewal inspection was initiated on 03/01/2021 and concluded on 03/04/2021. The director was contacted by email to initiate the inspection. There were 121 children present, 19 staff and 3 administrative staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 8 children?s records and 5 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable law and a violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-4 Description: Based upon review of five staff records and staff interview, the facility has not ensured that criminal background checks are obtained for any employee who has lived in a state than Virginia within the past five years.
1. According to information provided, staff 2 began employ on 8/27/2019. The sworn disclosure statement competed and signed by staff 2 indicated that staff 2 lived in another state within the past five years. Results of a criminal record check from the other state were not available.
2. The administrator verified that staff 2 indicated living in a state other than Virginia and that results of a criminal record check from the other state were not obtained.

When it was realized that the criminal background check had not been obtained, I began the process. The state of Illinois requires that anyone who is obtaining a background check for someone to apply to obtain a notary. As the criminal background check was being worked on, staff #2 gave her resignation.
