This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A renewal inspection was initiated on 3/17/2021 and concluded on 3/17/2021. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection and the inspection was completed virtually via Google Duo. There were 29 children present and 6 staff. The Inspector reviewed 3 children?s records, 3 staff records, and agent background checks submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard #: 63.2(17)-1721.1-B-4 Description: Based on record review, the center did not obtain the results of a search of the child abuse and neglect registry or equivalent registry from any state in which the individual has resided in the preceding five years for one agent.
Evidence:
1. Agent #1 has resided outside of the state of Virginia in the past 5 years.
2. Documentation in the record for Agent #1 indicated a request of a search of the child abuse and neglect registry for the state of Maryland was mailed on 10/13/2020.
3. There was no documentation in the record for Agent #1 that the center followed up with the state of Maryland regarding the search results, 45 days after the search was requested.Plan of Correction: The center will provide documentation of follow-up with the state of Maryland regarding the search results within the next 10 business days.
