Technical assistance was provided regarding playground gates, sight and sound supervision when children are using the playground, ensuring children use playground equipment that is appropriate for their age and abilities, providing adequate playground safety training and ensuring staff understand and follow transition policies.

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia. An announced non-mandated playground inspection was initiated on 4/9/2021 and concluded on 4/9/2021. The purpose of the inspection was to inspect the new playground installed at the center. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. A virtual walk through of the playground areas was completed. The playground is fenced-in and adequate resilient surfacing was observed under and around fall zones. The equipment was determined to be appropriate for the requested age range. A surfacing material report and a playground layout compliance document were also submitted to the inspector for review.
Information gathered during the inspection determined no violations with applicable standards or law. No violations were issued.
