Technical Assistance:
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

You are reminded to include the start and end dates for all topical ointments when onsite.

Your six month Conditional license will expire in August. Please submit the renewal application prior to the expiration date of your license.

Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia. The Director was contacted via Facetime to initiate the inspection. A total of 6 children with 4 staff were present in the classrooms. All occupied classrooms were observed virtually including the nap room. One staff interview conducted regarding the Center's emergency response procedures. A total of 2 staff records and 2 children's records were reviewed. All required postings were verified. No medications or food allergies identified at this time. Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A
Description: Based on staff record review, written information to demonstrate that the individual possesses the education, certification, and experience required by the job position was not found in two staff records.
Evidence:
Staff #1 and #2 are in lead teacher positions. Documentation was not maintained that these two staff have the education and/or certification for their positions.

Plan of Correction: Both staff have the programmatic experience and have completed the lead teacher 24 hour training. The completed training documentation has been requested from management and will be maintained in their records ongoing.

Standard #: 63.2(17)-1721.1-B-4
Description: Based on staff record review, one background check was not obtained as required.
Evidence:
Staff #2 was a transfer from a sister center and was originally hired on 10/29/2020. Staff #2 requires an out of state Central Registry search. A request was made from the out of state search provider, however, no search results were found in the record.

Plan of Correction: A new Central Registry for this staff was requested from the out of state search provider. A follow up will be conducted within 30 days of results have not been received. Documentation of this follow up will be maintained in the staff record and also forwarded to the Licensing Inspector. Results when received will be forwarded to the Licensing Inspector within 10 days of receipt of the results.
