This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 5/13/2021 and concluded on 5/13/2021. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 27 children present and 6 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 2 children?s records and 2 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C Description: Based on review of documentation and interview, the licensee did not ensure that the center's procedures for administering medication shall include methods to prevent use of outdated medication.
Evidence:
During the inspection expired emergency medication was observed on-site. The center's medication policy was reviewed and it was verified that the medication policy did not address methods to prevent use of outdated medication.Plan of Correction: Parent and employee handbooks were modified to include prevention of outdated medication.
Also, parents with Epi-pen expired were notified on 5/13/2021 and given 8 days to bring new medication and forms from doctors.
