Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on July 28, 2021 and concluded on July28, 2021. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 84 children present, ranging in ages from 3 months to 12 years, with 13 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance with the subsidy requirements. A total of 5 child records and 5 staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and the violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-665-580-B
Description: Based on the review of five staff records and confirmation from the director, one staff member did not complete Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff within the first 90 days of employment.

Evidence:
1. The record for Staff Member #5 contained documentation of completed Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff dated 05/22/2021. Staff Member #5 first date of employment was 01/21/2021.
2. The director confirmed that Staff Member #5 was late in completing the required training.

Plan of Correction: The director will ensure that all new staff members take the course within the first 90 days of employment.
