This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.
A renewal inspection was initiated and concluded on October 21, 2021. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 24 children present, ranging in ages from 3 years to 5 years, with four staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of three child records and three staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-440-B Description: Based on observation and interview, mats were not identified for use by a specific child.
Evidence:
1. The mats in the preschool classroom were not labelled for use by a specific child.
2. Staff #4 confirmed that the mats in the classrooms were not labelled.Plan of Correction: The mats will be labelled today.
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-C-2 Description: Based on record review, a Central Registry search was not conducted for a staff member after a five year period.
Evidence:
1. Staff #3's record (Date of Hire-08-22-2016) did not contain documentation of a Central Registry Finding. The last Central Registry Finding had expired and was dated 09/27/2016.Plan of Correction: A Central Registry Form will be completed and mailed out today.
