Comments:
An unannounced nonmandated monitoring inspection was conducted between 12:15 and 1:45 p.m. There were two staff supervising the children. There were 8 preschool age children present. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant including the playground, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of two child records and two staff records were reviewed. New requirements became effective on 10/13/21. The facility has not fully complied with the following requirement; 8VAC20-780-240: The following needs to be included in orientation prior to the staff member working alone with children and no later than seven days of the date of assuming job responsibilities: Prevention of sudden infant death syndrome and use of safe sleep practices; Prevention of shaken baby syndrome and abusive head trauma, including procedure to cope with crying babies or distraught children. Prevention of and response to emergencies due to food and other allergic reactions including: Recognizing the symptoms of an allergic reaction; Responding to allergic reaction; Preventing exposure to the specific food and other substances to which the child is allergic; and D. Preventing cross contamination; The facility is to review the new requirements and work with their assigned inspector to ensure future compliance.
