Technical Assistance:

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on 12/15/2021 and concluded on 01/12/2022. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 91 children present with 16 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of five child records and five staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 8VAC20-770-60-C-2
Description: Based on a review of five staff records and interviews, the center did not ensure that three staff members had a central registry finding within 30 days of employment.

Evidence: 1) The central registry finding in record for Staff #2, hired on 11/04/21, was dated 12/15/21. 2) The central registry finding in the record for Staff #3, hired on 08/17/21, was dated 10/01/21. 3) The central registry finding in the record for Staff #5, hired on 11/01/21, was dated 12/15/21. 4) During interviews, a member of management confirmed the results of the central finding for Staff #2, Staff #3, and Staff #5 were not received within 30 days of employment. The records did not contain documentation of any further contact and the staff members had been continuously employed.

Plan of Correction: Moving forward, the center will keep a copy of the request and maintain documentation of when the request is mailed. The director will follow up within 3 weeks after mailing the request to ensure the results are received within 30 days of hire.
