22.1 Early Childhood Care and Education

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring/complaint inspection was conducted today between 9:45am-12:30pm. There were 58 children present with 13 staff members. Based on observation and staff interviews, the preponderance of evidence does not support the allegation of non compliance of ratios. Children were observed during centers, sensory activities, painting, story time, and engaged in group activities. A selection of staff and children records, medications and other documents were reviewed. The physical space, emergency supplies, evacuation drills, attendance records, and the Emergency Preparedness Plan were reviewed. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the violation notice. Description: Based on record review, an out of state sex offender registry was not completed for staff that has resided out of the state of Virginia within the last five years.
Evidence:
1. Staff #2's record (Date of hire-10/18/21) contains a sworn statement that confirms that Staff #2 has lived in the state of Maryland in the last five years. There was no documentation of a Maryland Sex Offender Registry Search in the record.

Plan of Correction: A Maryland Sex Offender Registry search will be conducted and the record will be documented.
