An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. There were 21 children present with 4 staff member's present. The physical plant, children's records, staff records, evacuation plans, menu's, emergency supplies and evacuation logs were reviewed. The children were observed hand washing and having snack. Teacher interactions with children were positive. Areas of non-compliance were cited on the Violation Notice. Standard #: 8VAC20-780-60-A Description: Based on a review of children's records, the center failed to obtain documentation of the names of person authorized to pick up the child.
Evidence:
Child # 1 and #3's records do not contain documentation of persons authorized to pick up the child.Plan of Correction: I will ask the parents for the information today 2/1/2022.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B Description: Based on observation, the center failed to keep hazardous substances in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence:
1. The cabinet across from the bathroom downstairs had a lock, but was unlocked and contained cleaning products.
2. The closet in the hallway downstairs was unlocked and contained cleaning products.Plan of Correction: The Director will remind staff to keep all cabinets and closets containing hazardous substances locked at all times.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-550-D Description: Based on a review of the evacuation log, the center failed to complete monthly practice evacuation drills.
Evidence:
The center did not complete or document an practice evacuation drill for January 2022.Plan of Correction: I will ensure that we will complete and document a practice evacuation drill each month.
