This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, and an on-site inspection of the program.
A renewal inspection was initiated and concluded on 2/11/2022. The Director was contacted by telephone, then an on-site inspection was conducted. There were 43 children present, ranging in ages from 3years to 6years, with 7 staff supervising. The Inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies, and nutrition. A total of 4 children's records and 3 staff records were reviewed.
The Inspector also completed an investigation after receiving information from center personnel regarding behavior guidance in the classroom. All necessary staff interviews were completed today.
The information gathered during the inspection determined no violations with applicable standards or law. No violations were issued.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-60-A-8 Description: Based on a review of children's medication documents it was determined that for one child who has a diagnosed food allergy there is no written care plan, to include instructions from a physician regarding the food to which the child is allergic and the steps to be taken in the event of a suspected or confirmed allergic reaction.
Evidence:
Child D has a documented food allergy and has prescription medication on site. There is no food allergy action plan on file for this child.Plan of Correction: I will ask the parent to have the form completed and signed by the doctor.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-270-A Description: Based on observations, it was determined that one are of the children's playground has not been maintained in a clean, safe, and operable condition.
Evidence:
There are several areas of peeling paint on the children's wooden climber that leads to the slide.Plan of Correction: The equipment will be repaired.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-330-B Description: Based on observations, it was determined that one fall zone area on the children's playground does not include an adequate level of resilient surfacing.
Evidence:
There is not an adequate level of resilient surfacing at the bottom of the children's slide. In this area, the mulch has worn down to a solid level of dirt.Plan of Correction: Additional mulch will be ordered and installed.
